The Climate and Environment Commission provides information to town residents on environmental and climate issues. It develops a work plan with educational and outreach activities and provides recommendations to the Town Council on how the Town can meet the goals of the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement.

The Commission consists of 7 Members appointed by the Town Council. Six of those appointees serve 2-year terms. The remaining position is filled by a member of Town Council for a term determined by the Council. New Castle residents and up to 3 non-residents may serve on the Commission. Members must possess a demonstrated interest in the Town’s climate protection goals and in developing reasonable proposals for the Town to meet those goals. Commission Members serve without compensation.

The Commission meets at least 4 times per year, on the third Thursday of the month, starting at 4:30 pm. Most meetings are held in person and virtually, using Zoom, with occasional meetings at New Castle Town Hall located at 450 West Main Street. Other meetings and workshops are scheduled as needed. Meeting agendas are posted at Town Hall, the New Castle Post Office, and the public notice board in the Castle Valley Ranch Subdivision ( at Kay Williams Park). The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
