The 52nd Burning Mountain Festival is Here!

Get ready for a weekend full of music, food, vendors, and fun as the 52nd Burning Mountain Festival lights up downtown New Castle on Friday, September 13th, and Saturday, September 14th.

Friday Festivities

The festival kicks off Friday at 4:00 PM with vendors setting up at Burning Mountain Park. This year's food offerings include Capitol Deli, Rolling Fork Truck, and a Taco Fundraiser hosted by New Castle Recreation in partnership with Rooted in Nature Kids. Satisfy your sweet tooth with treats from Rifle Creek Kettle Corn, Wheelie Wonka’s Freeze-Dried Sweets, Cub Scout Snow Cones, and Colorado Snow’s ice cream and cotton candy. And don’t miss the traditional homemade pie sale by the local Lions Club.

Vendors and Activities

Burning Mountain Park will also feature unique art vendors and non-profit groups on both Friday and Saturday. The River Center will have a booth open on Friday for last-minute registrations for the Fire-in-the-Hole 5K run, which kicks off Saturday morning at 7:15 AM, beginning and ending at Burning Mountain Park.

Friday Evening Highlights

At 7:00 PM, the town's Volunteers of the Year will be
announced on the music stage in the park. Live music follows
with Rumours at 5:00 PM and Feeding Giants at 7:30 PM.

Saturday Events

On Saturday, Fire-in-the-Hole 5K kicks off with walkers and
runners at 7:15 am. The popular Burning Mountain Festival
Car Show takes place on Kamm Avenue next to Jim’s U-Haul
Garage on Main Street at 9:00 am.

The festival parade begins
at 10:00 AM, (see file attached for application) heading east on Main Street from the Elk Creek
Elementary parking area. This year’s parade theme is "An
Era of Music." This year’s Grand Marshal is life-time resident,
former Mayor, Council Member, Town Manager and first Local Historian of New Castle, Steve Rippy.

After the parade, enjoy the foam pit at Burning Mountain Park—just remember to bring a towel!

The annual Strider Race for tots starts at 11:30 AM at the New Castle Community Center, followed by a pie eating contest at 1:00 PM at Burning Mountain Park, along with other fun park games.

One of the festival’s longest-standing competitions, the log-splitting contest for men and women, begins at 2:00 PM. Contestants can sign up on-site at the New Castle Recreation tent, with proceeds going to a local neighbor in need.

Festival Merchandise and Music

The New Castle Recreation tent will be selling beer tickets and Burning Mountain Festival t-shirts on both Friday and Saturday. This year’s merchandise includes short-sleeve t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, and women’s tank tops—grab yours before they’re gone!

Saturday’s live music lineup includes The Know Bodies Band at 3:00 PM, The Gerry Goodman Band at 5:00 PM, and Mitt Spicy & the Blues Bandits at 7:30 PM.
