Building
The Building Department permitting@newcastlecolorado.org handles all matters relating to construction within the Town of New Castle. We strive to serve the community by providing prompt, courteous and efficient service.
To obtain a building permit, complete a permit application along with the relevant plan sets and documents as indicated on the application checklist. Plans for new builds should include a soils analysis, site plan, as well as engineered stamped structural drawings.
Submit complete applications to permitting@newcastlecolorado.org.
If the application is incomplete the building review and permitting will be delayed until all required documents are received. The review includes compliance with the Town’s zoning and land use code, the 2021 International Building Codes, with amendments below and, if applicable, compliance with the historical characteristics in the R-1 and C-1 zone districts. The review process begins only when the application is complete. Once the review is complete, fees will be calculated, and the permit will be ready for issuance.

All fees are due at the time the permit is issued. All contractors and subcontractors are required to have a valid Town of New Castle Business License.
Inspections are required. Please contact the Building Department to schedule inspections. A 24-hour notice is required for inspections.
For fences, please call the Building Department or email permitting@newcastlecolorado.org for code requirements regarding the allowable height in your zone district. It is also recommended that you contact the Town if you plan on constructing a deck, or purchasing a pre-manufactured storage shed.
