New Castle Recreation

 

Thai Chi (Ages 18+) Try Tai Chi for on FREE Tuesday, May 16th at the New Castle Community Center, then decide if this class is for YOU! Session 1: May 23– June 29, Session 2: July 11-August 31. Days/Time: Tuesdays & Thursday from 1:00-2:00pm. Cost: $60.00 per session or $6.00 drop in class fee. Location: New Castle Community Center

Yoga For Beginners: Join local fitness instructor Michelle Fite for a basic introduction to yoga including sun salutations, standing and seated postures, restorative type yoga & flow. All levels welcome! Bring a Yoga mat! Cost: $100 for 5 week workshop Min: 7ppl Session 1: June 6– July 11 (no class 7/4). Days/Times: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:00-10:00am. Circuit & TRX Training: Join fitness instructor Victor Mauro from Exclusive Athletic Club in New Castle for a small group training session including circuit training, TRX, Maxxifit, and other functional movements. All fitness levels welcome. Min/Max: 5/20 Session 1: May 26, June 2, June 9 & June 16. Days/Time: Friday mornings from 10-11am. Cost: $50 for all 4 classes or $15.00 drop in fee. Intro to Lacrosse Camp (Ages 8-12yrs)
Want to try the fastest growing sport in the valley? This new program will teach participants the fundamental skills of throwing, catching, scooping,  and cradling. Sticks and soft  lacrosse balls will be provided.Cost: $60.00/$70.00 after June 8    Days/Times: Thursdays, June 22-July 20 from 10:00am-12:00pm. Location: VIX Ranch Park

Grand Avenue Bridge Updates

An I-70 night detour is scheduled for Saturday, May 20 from 8 PM to 6 AM. The Grand Avenue Bridge will be closed during this time. This I-70 night detour is weather dependent.

US Hwy 6 Paving Update
Because of cold, wet weather, crews will continue paving US Hwy 6 through the end of next week. Some areas of US Hwy 6 will be in an alternating one-lane configuration while crews pave the highway. Delays are anticipated from 6 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Friday. Temporary traffic holds are anticipated on side streets.

Business access will be maintained during this time, with a brief hold in front of each business as crews lay new asphalt. Pedestrian access is maintained on sidewalks along US Hwy 6.

Nightly Street Closures for Traffic Signal Work – Next Two Weeks
Ninth Street Closures 5/22 to 5/25: Monday night, May 22 through Thursday night, May 25 from 8 PM to 6 AM, crews will close Ninth Street from Colorado to Grand avenues and Cooper to Grand avenues.

Eighth Street Closures 5/30 to 6/2: Tuesday night, May 30 through Friday night, June 2 from 8 PM to 6 AM, crews will close Eighth Street from Colorado to Grand avenues and Cooper to Grand avenues.

Nightly Sixth Street Lane Closures
Monday, May 22 to Thursday, May 25 from 7 PM to 7 AM, anticipate lane closures on Sixth Street between Pine and Laurel streets.
