Eighth Street Connection Construction Scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 6
Construction crews are scheduled to begin the Eighth Street connection construction Tuesday, Sept. 6, following the Labor Day holiday.
  • The project timeline is six to eight weeks.
  • In the first week, motorists can anticipate minimal traffic impacts on Seventh Street near the Eighth Street Bridge and Eighth Street near School Street.
  • Approximately 1,000 cubic yards per day will be excavated west of City Hall. This operation will be similar to the south causeway hauling activities earlier this year.
  • Trees in the work zone will be removed during the excavation phase of this project.
  • Crews will close the Eighth Street Bridge for ten days beginning Oct. 8. The closure location is from the Eighth Street Bridge to Midland Avenue. Local access to Cowdin Drive will be maintained during the closure.
  • Pedestrian access across the Eighth Street Bridge will also be maintained during the closure.
Stay tuned for weekly progress updates, detours and lane closures associated with the Eighth Street connection.
